"JCC Global - Teens Connect"- first global delegation of the “JCC Global -from Good to Great” program

ree

A tri-lateral global project of Beit Grand JCC, Odesa, Ukraine; Shimon and Sara Birnbaum JCC, Bridgewater, New Jersey and Migvanim, Ramat Hasharon, Israel, focused on deepening the connection among teenagers from the three communities.

Thanks to the warm invitation of the Bridgewater JCC, teens from Odesa and Ramat Hasharon flew to New Jersey in July where they joined the camp team as junior instructors for two weeks and were hosted by local families.

Strengthening the Global JCC Teen Community

ree

The JCC Maccabi Games of the Jewish Community Centers of North America brought together nearly 2,000 Jewish teens from around the globe in August, with events in Tucson, Arizona and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Under the leadership of Sam Cohen, a JCC Global Fellow, the Games created unprecedented opportunities for international connections.

Historic Firsts and Global Partnerships

Thanks to a relationship facilitated by JCC Global and the generosity of the Tucson JCC, teens from the Kedem Jacobs JCC in Chisinau participated in the Games for the first time ever. Their journey to Tucson followed a year-long virtual exchange with local teens through the "From Zoom to the Games" project.

The Warsaw delegation joined the Pittsburgh Games as part of the P2G partnership with Karmiel-Misgav and Pittsburgh. Their experience included homestays with local families, time on the University of Pittsburgh campus, and a concluding mifgash at Emma Kaufmann Camp.

A Truly International Gathering

Beyond North American participants, the Games welcomed teens from Ukraine, Great Britain, Argentina, and Mexico. Team Israel featured representatives from Hagalil, Shar Hanegev, Bat Yam, Kiryat Motzkin, and Ramat Gan. Several communities strengthened bonds with their Israeli sister cities, including Staten Island-Binyamina, Toronto-Eilat, Pittsburgh-Karmiel Misgav, and Ann Arbor-Nahalal partnerships.

"Mirror, Mirror" - a High Holiday Gift from the Marcus JCC of Atlanta

ree

In preparation for the High Holidays, and as part of the "JCC Global - from Good to Great program" joint project "Together in Time", the Marcus JCC of Atlanta created a special resource for its partners at JCC Beit Dan in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and Jewish Care, London, UK. We are delighted to share this special resource with the global network.

"Mirror, Mirror" is a High Holiday and fairy-tale–themed workbook for children. The booklet takes kids on a journey through reflection, renewal, and second chances, framed within the imagery of magical stories and Jewish tradition. The workbook gets children to engage in activities that encourage them to think about who they are, how they want to grow, and how they can repair mistakes—ideas central to the High Holidays and to Jewish life everywhere.

The workbook is available in English and Ukrainian to print and use with families and children. To receive the workback in Ukrainian, write to info@jccglobal.org
